I could not imagine a more fun or joyful couple to peruse around Old Town Alexandria than Katie and Kevin.
Katie has a beautiful ministry called Behold, a program that leads women through Visio Divina
(praying with art), leading to an encounter with Christ. I first met Katie and experienced Visio Divina as a mentor at 2021 GIVEN Forum in Washington D.C., and after praying with art for the first time, I knew I was standing on the threshold of something amazing and so needed for our times. I was excited to invite Katie down to Williamsburg, so she could share her work with my network of Catholic women.
That's when I met Kevin (August 2021), who came along to support and help his then-girlfriend. Watching them interact, I remember thinking, "Why aren't these two engaged yet?!" Together, they are so playful and relaxed. They encourage each other in their individual gifts and talents, and it is obvious that they enjoy each other's company. Maybe it is my mama instinct, but I had a feeling that a marriage proposal was just around the corner.
And I was right!
They have been quickly planning their wedding, and 4 months later, here we are photographing their engagement, betrothal ceremony, and New Year's Day wedding - all within a 2-week window! More to that story later.
For their engagement session, the rainy weather passed and we wandered around Old Town Alexandria, a lovely, charming, historical Northern Virginia town. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, full of festive lights and wreaths. We stopped by their favorite bar and restaurant, Virtue Feed & Grain, where we were happily greeted by the manager. We saw the big Christmas tree in Market Square. The session was a lot of fun and full of laughs. Their personalities and relationship shine in the images.
These two are such beautiful souls, and I am so excited for their wedding day!
